I studied engines and fuels for my master degree in mechanical engineering. I remember learning that alcohol has 30% less energy/unit compared to gasoline. So on the one side, the government put these massive CAFE fuel economy requirements of over 50mile/gallon by 2025 and at the same time required fuel that contains alcohol that reduces the amount of miles it could get per gallon. I actually think this was meant to quicken the demise of the our gas burning car engines and push us toward electric vehicles...
yup...not only that but the alcohol ruins old engines...hurting the poor.
They like burning corn and other foodstuffs, often foodstuffs that take as much oil to produce as they yield in alcohol, then complaining that people are hungry!
Democrats love the alcohol industry, my Representative in congress owns a chain of liquor stores. On the plus side shitty gasoline has me looking at propane outboards which offer a number of advantages.
