Trump administration considering private spy network
What are the benefits of making a spy network "private"?
- a private spy network would circumvent official U.S. intelligence agencies. The plans have been pitched to the White House as a means of countering “deep state” enemies in the intelligence community seeking to undermine Trump’s presidency.
A spy network reporting directly to the president then?
- It is a direct-action arm, totally off the books, meaning the intelligence collected would not be shared with the rest of the CIA or intelligence community. The whole point is this is supposed to report to the president and Pompeo (CIA director) directly.
The president's spies would be on their own
- The proposals would utilize an army of spies with no official cover in several countries deemed “denied areas” for current American intelligence personnel, including North Korea and Iran.
So is there anything to discuss here?
Are we going to now have intelligence "spooks" roaming the world digging up plots to undermine US presidents? Put your personal biases aside, if any. Realize that once something of this nature becomes part of who-we-are, there will be no going back. Your love or hate for the current president matters little. The future presidential winds of change might be bitter indeed.
And what exactly qualifies as a "deep state enemy"?
Hopefully not me! And hopefully not you.
Well actually now that I'm thinking about it... perhaps it would be better if YOU were considered the president's "deep state enemy", instead of me. There lies the potential problem.
So does this program have the ability to affect ALL of us at some point in time, throughout the entire political spectrum? Right, left or center? If the spooks focus tight on somebody, is that person going to come up dirty??
Finally: do you really think we'll have a choice?

And you're right. My concern in posting this is what happens when a future president "inherits" this "ability" and they're disliked by the OTHER half of the population? Back and forth we'd go is where my thinking is leading me.

I have to say I am frustrated with our government as a whole. President Trump has so many moles he needs to weed out to get on the level playing field, it will almost have to go underground.
How frustrating the areas of government that are supposed to work are nothing more than dirty rat bastards only out for who will line their pockets the deepest. Trump needs to know he has a good intelligence team. If it means going covert against the deep state that is so hell bent on destroying him I say go for it.
Just make sure it's gone before he leaves office, or it WILL be abused and used against the American people.
I really wish we had better ways of making what they do in our name really transparent.
Our privacy can be violated for everything right down to marketing products :(

I've been thinking, and saying it, since I first joined SteemIt. It was one of the first things that entered my mind, slapping a blockchain leash on our public servants. Watch how fast they'll want to STOP being elected over and over when the profit of public office is removed. lol
They would crap their pants if we could see all the money changing hands selling their votes to the highest bidder. I think bump their outrageous pay down to 50k too. They don't do anything for this country.

I'm all for making politicians the worlds next "victim class" If blockchain does it that would be great. But these are some of the laziest, scummiest people on earth that "serve the public" We need to clean them up, ALL of them.
