Who was the first person to make you feel welcome on SteemIt?
Do you remember the first person you met on SteemIt?
Who welcomed you? or answered your question or gave you encouragement?
I can't remember who if anyone greeted me on the first day, about somewhere around a week of wondering if my posts were even visible, I received a helpful comment from @gardenlady. She was welcoming and friendly and even bold enough to provide some suggestions. I don't remember what she said, just that someone said something!
I know for a while the scammer factor and the amount of Spam, made me almost suspicious of new users. I never go to "New" anymore and I am unlikely to start going there again.
However, if I do see a question or a request I try to be friendly, and I engage with anyone who makes a reasonable comment on my post. By reasonable, I mean do I understand what they are saying, and does it sound like they read the post. :)
I was reading some of the projects on the Trending page, and I noticed someone is launching some sort of Bitshares/Steem cross on Bitshares. A quick glance at their marketing showed zero discussion of "Quality Content" and instead had a friendlier message of "Post what you want".
While I find it unlikely people are going to flock to Bitshares at this point, I was envious of a friendly message.
I don't mind that we don't rain money on the new-users, but I also think we could be more friendly and helpful.
What do you think? Does the Steem Community come off as friendly or inviting?
The first person who I had real conversations with was @crypto2crypto
His great attitude and informative posts made me invest into Steemit and learn quite a bit. I was truly amazed that such a big "whale" is keeping great contact with his community.
And the first post that had huge impact on me as a Steemian was one made by you where you talked about consistent posting. I still remember the quote "I just kept posting" :D

@fyrstikken! That first time I did a live stream with him! It was awesome. I had never talked to him prior and he ended up answering my request on the steemit.chat asking anyone to test my first ever Youtube live stream.
There are many other people. Many witnesses from the very early days, in June 2016, @liondani, @pfunk, @steempty and many others answering my numerous questions about Steem!

Yeah, I think finding SteemSpeak and listening to the early conversations there, really helped my early days also! I think I enjoyed SteemSpeak more than the site for a while! :)
Yep... Fyrstikken and you @Battleaxe were the first two I met... Fyrst mistook me as a spammer and I got in voice on steemspeak to justify myself and well... things got a little out of control.. Good times idk if you'd remember that or not Battleaxe.. lol but you stood up for me and it made me feel a bit more welcomed... lol. You too @whatsup, always intrigued by what you have to say and your stance on the different debates that take place in voice... For as long as I can remember you have been a very welcoming figure in both the steemit and steemspeak community. Thanks for the post it really got me thinking!

Glad to see you are still here and hanging in there epicdesigns. Sometimes I think only the strong survive on Steem! :)

Lol!! What a perfect question for me because it was @whatsup. You weren't my first interaction but you proved to be the most impactful one. I'm not overstating this.
When I was at about my 80 day mark, with 400 followers (mostly bots or other newbies), with 800 posts and comments, I was still struggling because it seemed like very few people were seeing or reacting to me. And I WAS making an effort AND burning through my best images in the process. I knew I needed to change my approach.
Eventually, I decided this was being passive, I couldn't sit around waiting to be discovered. I needed to search out more active users to connect with, those with more power than I, and those who valued creating original content and those who supported the others around them. And, as a plus, with compatible viewpoints or interests.
And while it was me who found you through one of your posts, it was your response and appreciation that truly made me feel like I had found the way. A place beyond the trending or hot pages.
The ironic thing is, that your post was about your feeling slightly burdened by the daily act of supporting a network. :P And while that was probably true, it may also have been your topic du jour, which we also know can be a burden to find and create.
And whether my comment actually added something important to your thoughts, it certainly felt that way. And a post or two later you even transferred a full steem to me. Not an up-vote, a transfer!! This was 10x what I had earned from other posts or comments. I was slightly embarrassed by your generosity. I'm not sure of the edicate here, do I transfer back a tip with a comment? Do I pay it forward? I decided to thank you and be grateful.
These interactions changed my perspective of steemit and gave me new ideas to use going forward. Now I follow and read your posts and I continue learning new things in the process. And then when I find an opportune time, like now, I jump in and say something.
I know now, that finding the right people here, real people makes all the difference. For me that was you, and I thank you.

When I get low on voting power, I sometimes send tips or buy someone a vote. I'm glad it mattered.

@gibber showed some pretty amazing appreciation for my songwriting through cover-a-steemian
And then @paintingangels pulled me into Helpie and the rest was history.
Also I met a lot of people through reviewing their accounts for the Minnowbooster whitelist. Part of why I became a leader in that is because it was introducing me to so many accounts I wanted to follow. (And we have a nice little social group around that too.)
@newmarket65 was the first person I really remember giving me much support. Hopefully some day I can return the favor.
One thing I really loved when first comming onto Steemit is the sense of community and everyone was really supportive and helpful in answering questions.
By far though the biggest welcome wagon I got was from @brianphobos , I can honestly say if it weren't for him I wouldn't have lasted this long. Hehas always been very helpful to me in answering questions and has always been supportive helping me with upvotes and resteems and just has helped keep me motivated. I also love his no bullshit attitude, he's not a circle jerker its all good here, he's also willing to point out the flaws of this platform.
It's not just me either, when I look at other Steemians accounts and stuff I see him doing this for a lot of people, if we ever do some type of Steemit ambassador award for who does the most to spread the word and keep people active and engaged and happy onthis platform I would nominate him.
@bodyinbeta doesn't seem to be around here anymore but he also gave me a very warm welcome on here. My buddy @mitchyb joined around the same time or shortly after me but he's always been very supportive and engaged with me on here as well so big shout out to him. @tolkatore another awesome dude. @rawpride as well.
@reseller anohter awesome cat who's always been one to offer tips and suggestions on how I can grow and improve me and him have done a couple youtube livestreams and he's taught me a ton about this platform.
@robertandrew always very engaging and supportive love that dude as well and @Darrylnyk is a more recent Steemian but he's a great guy as well very supportive and engaging with me.

This reply surprised me a little, but I am very glad to hear it. He blocked me long ago. lol, I have no idea what I did. It was kind of sad, because I enjoyed his posts.
Ditto here also. No idea why but I don't lose sleep over it. We have so many wonderful folks here at Steemit that we can interact with.

I've been trying to relate more with people who have the same or lower steem power than myself lately. I noticed that very few are interested in conversations. Everyone is trying to get the attention of Whales/Dolphins
Yeah, I've noticed that also. It can still happen from time to time, but for the most part, I think that train has left the station.

The short answer is yes. It's possible. @skeptic was in the dumps too, he also made a comeback. Now his rep is higher than mine.
It was a big Curie upvote on my fourth post, a guitar video I posted. When I looked at my blog that morning I couldn't believe it! Of course back then steem cost less than a quarter and the vote was only worth $20, but it still felt exciting.
Literally speaking when i first came to the Steemit Platform i was really unaware about the Introduction Post and at that time i was an YouTuber so just shared my video with Introduction Tag and only got 0.02 for that, but i am glad that i got good welcoming comment from @smokinglems and you can find that comment below.
And it was an booster for me because when nothing works then few warm words can help us to stand.
