Diwali

in #diwali5 years ago
This is the time of year for one of the biggest holidays of the Hindu tradition, that of Diwali (sometimes rendered as "Deepavali"), the Festival of Lights. It comes on the dark night (New Moon) during the month of Kartik, which falls around October–November in the Gregorian Calendar. Different stories of the possible origin exist, but everyone seems to agree on the meaning of the festival and that is what is important.

All the stories associated with Deepavali... speak of the joy connected with the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. [1]

Diwali has been celebrated for centuries on the subcontinent of India, Nepal, and by the Hindu diaspora around the world. To those of you who also observe the holiday or celebrate in some way, blessings to you!

Hello thekittygirl, i heard that God when He create life He put in India all beautifull things.

I think you heard correctly! Thanks for the comment! 😊

Lot of gods in India it seems

Actually, if one reads the scriptures, there is only ONE deity, but that One manifests in thousands. or millions, of different ways. It's exactly the same as the Judao-Christian deity appearing as a burning bush to Moses, then again as a "pillar of cloud," then again as a disembodied hand writing on Daniel's wall, and so forth. As with the Hindu religions: one deity, many different appearances.

I'm so glad my life hasn't been wasted

Enjoy Diwali, may Lakshmi bring you prosperity 💚

Thank you! 😊

It’s a beautiful celebration with a deep and sacred meaning.
