How i fixed my tv

in #diy7 years ago (edited)

So i traded 2 30-minute chair massages and $100 for a big screen tv.

I could tell when i got it that it was thicker than LCD/LED but i was not yet familiar with rear projection.

After awhile the screen started getting darker and kinda green.

I googled and youtubed, then ordered a new bulb.

I read that it was beneficial to clean the heat sinks and fans to help disapate heat.

So i pulled the whole assembly out and cleaned everything.

When i first powered up afterward, the image was like an acid trip. I easily found one cable that was not properly seated.

The tv is still darker than others and over time 2 pinholes have appeared, but i still think it was a pretty good trade.

I love playing kinect games on a big screen!
