Prevent a cold—try a neti pot
I didn’t realize how effective neti pots were considered until a health-conscious friend sent me one last month. She included a recent Harvard Women’s Health Watch newsletter article that describes the role that neti pots can play in the “first line of defense” in preventing and treating sinus problems.
Soon after, I came across the December 2018 issue of the consumer reports on health newsletter describing how rinsing your nose with saltwater can help relieve chronic nose and sinus symptoms and may even prevent colds and other viruses from taking hold. Neti pots are one way to deliver that saltwater wash; sterile saline nasal sprays are another.
You can find neti pots at many drug and health food stores, or online. Prices start around $15. To learn more about using a neti pot to treat health conditions safely, consult your doctor.
