My Portfolio #4 The Black Knight

in #dlike6 years ago

share-with-dlike.jpg

This piece is carved in oak and depicts a knight on horseback.

I have always admired church carvings and especially those from the Gothic period.

I wanted to emulate the carving style of this period and then to age and stain the piece to look original.

So that it would not look out of place in a Church or Cathedral.

I have always liked the idea that although something of this nature would normally be seen in a Church setting, that it could sit very nicely in a contemporary environment.

Many thanks,

@jist

Very convincing patina.

Yeah I have a technique that I have been perfecting over the years. I always study old furniture and carvings whenever I get the chance. It is a tricky thing to get an authentic look with.

@jist this is very interesting because looks like ancient.
