Former captain Wasim Akram is likely to be appointed chairman of the PCB Cricket Committee. Simm Akram is currently a member of the cricket committee and the post of chief executive Waseem Khan has dropped from the chairmanship of the cricket committee.

According to sources in the board, Waseem Akram is a strong candidate to head the cricket committee. A formal announcement will be made within a few days after confirming Waseem Akram's consent.

The PCB has decided to make the cricket committee fully empowered. Now the cricketers will be part of the committee. Misbah-ul-Haq has also joined the cricket committee after taking over as head coach and chief selector.
