A single season of drought in the Amazon rainforest can reduce the forest's carbon dioxide absorption for years after the rains return, according to a new study published in the journal Nature. This is the first study to quantify the long-term legacy of an Amazon drought.

my 2 cents:

Hm...

A drought every fifth year, more than two thirds of the Amazon forest affected by the droughts, a new paradigm on thinking about the forest's capacity to act as a natural carbon sink.. a lot of new informations to think about...

In addition to that this:

[...]
The ecosystem has become so vulnerable
to these warming and episodic drought events
that it can switch from sink to source
depending on the severity and the extent
[...]

(cited from the article)

I do not feel really comfortable about this news...

What do you think?
