What Is A Weed?

Weeds are often seen as very disturbing. Most people want to get rid of them as quick as possible.

After all, weeds are anarchists - they don't follow the rules we set in our garden.

But what do we call a weed? It's just a plant that grows in an unwanted space at an unwanted time.

A plant, like any other plant we deliberately sow in our garden.

Let me share with you my favorite quote about weeds:

Nothing could be closer to the truth.

Most plants we see as weeds, have a lot of virtues we don't know about. Many of them can be used to treat pests or diseased in the garden, a lot or edible and a good number of them are very beneficial for your health.

Still, we prefer to destroy them, and use chemical products, both to fight garden problems as fix health problems.

I remember when I was a child we used many of this weeds for medicinal purposes. If I remember correctly the one that you have on the photo has antibacterial properties. We used to use it when we had some cuts on our knees from falling on the ground :)

Thank you for sharing!

Some of the most healthy plants are considered weeds just because they do not look pretty, luckily we know better than that. Thank you for sharing this with the community, I am sure it will get a lot of people thinking.

I have that link saved! Very interesting, this summer was my first summer as a gardener, and we had to get rid of several weeds that were smothering other plants. I did actually feel a bit bad about doing so because it is in fact my wishes and desires to have a certain kind of plant growing abundantly in that spot which means i need to kill the weed. I knew some of them should have some use!!!

This post is such a gorgeous mirror for humanity as well. Thank you so much for sharing, just beautiful.
