Dlike Improvement Proposal - Suggesting UX Modifications & Change of Reward Structure to Accommodate Small Scale Winners

in #dlike6 years ago

I've been with Dlike from the very beginning and I've had a great time with the project. It is very useful and it even answered some of my the prayers I had for Parley which is also a very useful platform related to the STEEM blockchain. I've written many of my thoughts at: https://steemit.com/dlike/@vimukthi/introduction-and-analysis-of-dlike-the-best-place-to-share-knowledge-and-information-on-blockchain-with-some-suggestions-and

But there is a lot more that can be done to make the project even better. First one is easy.

UX and Markdown

I generally like to add a bunch of my own thoughts to the posts I share. So there is more than just a link and few words. When I'm on https://dlike.io there is very little space for adding my personal thoughts and to have a great discussion on the comments. It's a terrible experience to have a good discussion on https://dlike.io and I have to move to steemit.com for that job. The inability to use markdown is also something I find to be very restrictive.

For starters try allocating more space for comments. You could move it to the bottom of the page below the picture or try something else. The current UX is only great for sharing content.

Fix/Balance Dlike Reward System

This is the really big one. The current system somewhat favors a winner takes all system. There is nothing bad in itself. But this is a community with 60K active users every single day. Just imagine 1% of them use Dlike. That's still 600 individuals. Even the ongoing writing contest is 15 SBD winner takes all competition. This could have turned off many people who would have tried if there were more prices. Current Drank system also keeps its rewards to just 3 accounts per week. @steemhunt which started mostly around the same time as Dlike has done a stellar job at promoting themselves and getting delegations through the act of rewarding a great many people. The @steemhunt upvote is given to about 100 accounts each day. HUNT Tokens are allocated forpretty much every interaction with the platform. Nothing is "not rewarded".

@originalworks Weekly Writing Contests!

At early days they only gave away rewards to a very few individuals and only a small number of articles were submitted. The following is how they are rewarding their this week's contest:

  • 1st Place: 70 STEEM
  • 2nd Place: 60 STEEM
  • 3rd Place: 52 STEEM
  • 4th Place: 47 STEEM
  • 5th Place: 36 STEEM
  • 6th Place: 34 STEEM
  • 7th Place: 28 STEEM
  • 8th Place: 25 STEEM
  • 9th Place: 22 STEEM
  • 10th Place: 21 STEEM
  • 11th Place: 20 STEEM
  • 12th Place: 19 STEEM
  • 13th Place: 17 STEEM
  • 14th Place: 15 STEEM
  • 15th Place: 14 STEEM
  • 16th - 20th: 11 STEEM
  • 21st - 25th: 8 STEEM
  • 26st - 30th: 7 STEEM
  • 31st - 40th: 5 STEEM
  • 41st - 100th: 2 STEEM Bonus

They have more submissions and more buzz generated.

A few extra bucks better allocated can make a great difference. Gamification doesn't produce much effect if there is nothing much to be game at. If you could at least give away 7 STEEM among the rest of those who make it to the Top 10 would mean a great deal. Even if you don't do that theree is another ace in your hand.

You've Got Dlike Tokens That Are Virtually Free

Just spread some extra 1000 tokens per week among those who make it to the Top 50. It's an easier target for individuals to achive and since there is "some" reward they migh actually be extra motivated to engage with and use @dlike platform.

I don't know if any of the devs would read this. If you do read, please take these points into consideration.A Dlike token airdrop is a great way to promote and build your platform to popularity. 60,000 a day is a decent sum of people. Give them something that look like they might actually have a chance at achieving. If America's Got Talent and Britain's Got Talent only screened contestants straight for the Golden Buzzer, not many would have joined the show in the first place.

So be erogenous to sprinkle more rewards among more individuals.!

Happy Steeming!

@vimukthi Thanks for writing a detailed review about @dlike. There are many things dlike is working on at present and one of them is your main concern of commenting. You will have that improved and much easier to user very soon.

Regarding airdrops, dlike will be announcing huge airdrops once we have officially announced our dlike token.

All points are noted and more useful suggestions awaited. Thanks for being a loyal user to @dlike.

I'm very glad to know that you noticed.
Wish You Best of Luck!

Please tell me. Where do you hold your SMT’s once you get them?

They are supposed to be linked to your STEEM wallet like SBD. Maybe you'd get a more advanced wallet like the Bitshares wallet.
