This is one of the most interesting pieces I have read. It has so many learning points. First, it highlights the intelligence of elephants, second, as you said it shows the importance of elder wisdom. By elder, it is probable a middle aged adult male, not an old senescent one. When you see the subculture of gangs in inner cities, you see exactly this, the lack of elder wisdom.

Also, I think it applies to our own community. I'm not stuck on the gender roles, either way, but we need to clamp down on a few young elephants that are killing rhinos for no reason.
