DLive Southern Utah Series #4 - The Toadstools

Continuing my series in Southern Utah, @toddhata and I make a stop at The Toadstools. We did this in the same day that we visited White Pocket and Wire Pass. Since they are all in the kind of the same area you can see all of them in a single day. We only had a short time to see the Toadstools before it got dark on us but the trail is only 1 mile to get to them so maybe a 20 minute walk.

The Toadstool are mushroom-shaped rock formations called Hoodoos that you can actually see in many parts of Utah. There actually aren't that many hoodoos in this place but I think what makes it special and worth hiking to are the different geological wonders that surround the place. There is a variety of colors and makeups of the rocks and dirt that are actually more interesting than the giant penis rocks that the place is named for.

The parking lot is right along the main road that cross southern Utah so it's right on the way if you are traveling on that road already. The trail you walk on seems like you are navigating through a maze as it follows a dry creek bed that zigzags through the colorful desert hills.

I would say that sunset is definitely the best time to go because there is actually an epic viewpoint to watch it from and get amazing photos. I wish we would have stayed half an hour longer there to get the fiery sunset htat nature blessed us with that evening. But we were afraid of getting rained on so we headed back to the car but we did stop on the road to get some shots of that amazing sunset.
