Voluntary Japan: The Truth About "The Bomb"

Laying to rest once and for all the statist myth that the massacre of innocent lives is necessary for peace. Particularly the pernicious and incredibly persistent narrative that the decimation of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, on August 6th and 9th, 1945, respectively, was a “necessary” and even “moral” action.

Neither historical fact, nor simple logic, nor basic morality allow for or support such a ridiculous, inept, psychopathically religious, and preposterous claim.

Let’s remember these events for what they were:
legalized mass murder of innocent men, women, and children.

Peace.

Steemit's never been perfect, but there were days when posts like this actually went somewhere.

Yeah man. I remember.

Fairly recently I read that after the first bomb, Japan was eager to surrender, but the US had a second, slightly different bomb they wanted to test, so they went ahead and tested it anyway.

War only works because we can be brainwashed to believe that "all Japanese" or "all Germans" are evil and trying to kill us. The chances are that they are given propaganda to believe the same about "all Americans" and "all English." The only way that we could accept the murder of all those people is by believing them all to be bad and out for our blood.

People do not choose to go to war and kill other people, their governments do that!

They were prepared to surrender prior to the first.

The only way that we could accept the murder of all those people is by believing them all to be bad and out for our blood.

Yes. This is why whether or not the state was prepared to surrender is irrelevant. It was a massacre. Mass murder, in cold blood.

People do not choose to go to war and kill other people, their governments do that!

I cannot fully agree here, as ultimately the blame for killing rests with the finger that pulls the trigger. However, in the case of mandatory service, the individual who commands the soldier pulls the trigger under threat of violence is also to blame.

Nowadays, though, folks should just stay the hell away from the military.

Thank you for your thoughtful and thought-provoking commentary, always.

I cannot fully agree here, as ultimately the blame for killing rests with the finger that pulls the trigger.

True, but would the one who pulled the trigger have got to that point had the various governments not decided to go to war in the first place? You also have to wonder how brainwashed that one was. It's amazing what we are capable of when swept along with the mob. We can do things we would never have done on our own.

I absolutely agree, stay away from the military unless you want to end up killing innocents. They call it the defence forces and those joining up usually do so in the belief that they are protecting their country and people, an heroic thing to do. Once we're fighting outside of our country it's hard to say we're defending it any more though.

It's amazing what we are capable of when swept along with the mob. We can do things we would never have done on our own.

Ultimately, however, the responsibility must rest with the moral agent. If someone tells you to kill someone, and you do it, you are guilty of the crime.

Can't argue with that.

so much has been done all because it was 'necessary' at that time for the ruling parties to flex muscle, to show and maintain their power. This shit still continuing today and like you said so many believing the bullshit that they are told, not giving any thought to the fact that it was people just like them that paid the ultimate price, that paid with their lives. I personally have no time for people who think like this, who spread such lies, who spread such hate, who are so ignorant to what is really going on, as long as it is not happening to them right. Thanks for speaking the truth and reminding us to remember those who have been casualties of war, who died so needlessly x

It was an ugly time in human history, and sadly our future almost certainly includes more unnecessary death on the mass scale.

Yup, there is no way to throw such a powerful weapon without hurting innocents, and so it happened... It was unnecessary, it was a shame.
