Although they are formally known as saltícidos, these species are colloquially called jumping spiders, jumping or flies. There are 553 genera divided into about 5,200 species.

Anatomy
Each species of the family has varieties in their anatomical characteristics, but most shows combinations of bright and intense colors in litmus. They have four pairs of eyes in the head, but one of those pairs is longer than the rest of the pairs and they are located towards the front; The body is covered with a lot of hairs on the head, legs and pedipalps, which gives them a fearsome appearance.

There are around 5,200 species of jumping spiders.

Distribution and habitat
They are found anywhere in the world, except in the polar regions. Most live very close to the equator where several rainforests are located, but they are also observed in forests, deserts, in mountainous areas and along coastal zones.

They prefer to remain on vertical surfaces like poles, trunks and walls of homes, but this is not to be alarmed, as they are harmless and only try to bite when they feel threatened.
