Well, here it is.
This report aired in the 1980s on Swiss television and details a groundbreaking discovery, made by a Swiss petrochemical giant that could have been a total game changer and a possible negation of the hazardous GMO developments of recent decades. Unfortunately, as with many other paradigm shattering inventions, the company's bottom line was prioritized over abundance and humanity's well being.
This video has largely disappeared from public consciousness within German language space, so I had to dub it into English before the last copies disappear off the internet altogether.

With each "breed" enhancements the plants become a hybrid and it's geared more towards "commercial". We're trying to grow heirloom seeds and hopefully as much "native" variety.
On second thought, how can I trust that what I have is heirloom? "It does say heirloom on the seed package" right?

The clip has been somewhat of an open secret since my time in the Zeitgeist movement, where many activists would share these things among each other, depending on who found what. And it floated around youtube in a few redundant copies until only one was left. So I decided to adhere to my intuition finally and dubbed it for eternity. Blockchain was only the final step. I really want to try this out if I can get an experimental setup, seems rather easy to achieve. It's fun just imagining the varieties of beloved plants gorwing in their "original" state... hehe, especially from a shamanic viewpoint.
As for heirlooms: I'm afriad I can't say how far we are. Though it is possibly that hirlooms have long been messed with, that spirit will not be very supportive for living self-sustainably. So until we really know I guess it would be more beneficial to pretend they're alright ;)
I also know most super common tales to be nothing but hot air. So while it may piss some people off I sometimes think: GMOs in themselves might just be a PR tale to spread fear. It may sound crazy, but if we look at the comparable candidates in the very mainstream point of view, they all fall apart on closer inspection.
