ULOG: Our Home Vegetable Garden

My brief Steemit journey so far has revolved around community work, complex analysis, and writing for the readers. This one is different, it is about me and something that @dandalion and I both enjoy doing. This started as a way to encourage out little ones to eat vegetables, and have a deeper appreciation of knowing how to grow their own food. In early 2015 we've seen some videos about the potential shortage in food because of the exponential population growth estimating the world population to be at 19 Billion in 2050. We thought this will not be case for the Philippines being an agricultural nation, but we realized that more and more farmers are moving to other industries, and we have to try and do our part in advocating urban farming.

So after a year or so of experience in growing the most common crops Filipino's consume we started the Urban Farming Philippines Facebook Group in early 2017. Now the group have more than a thousand members, and growing by the day. We have also done a learning session and distribution of seeds in a poor community in the Island Garden City of Samal in April when we did the Homesteading Brigade.

We intend to continue advocating urban farming in and outside of Steemit, and we look forward to doing more education sessions, and seed distribution in the future.

Good food!

Thanks Mark! We try hard to do our share :-)

WOW! A lot of papayas! Nice gardening! And it’s good that you can eat fresh vegetables directly from your own garden.

I totally agree with you, this can certainly encourage your daughters to eat vegetables.

I enjoyed watching your video…

You did great job on the Urban Farming Philippines Facebook Group and the Homesteading Brigade!

Congratulation! ;)

Thanks @tangmo. It's the rainy season now in Manila. It's time to plant new crops fit for the season :-)

You’re welcome! Ah! We are now in rainy season, too! But, when it does not rain, it’s really hot, again...

Hope to see your new crops in your garden soon. ;)

Thats a very noble undertaking @steemiph . Growing your own food at your yard and being an avocate! I myself have a small garden at the backyard and the source of my daily vegi needs.

That's the way to go @manvillar. Hopefully we get to encourage more of our kababayans to do the same. Join our small and growing Facebook group Urban Farming Philippines. We have wannabe farmers like ourselves helping each other there.
