WHAT IS VOLUNTARY JAPAN?
Welcome to the official Steemit HQ of Voluntary Japan, an online initiative seeking to bring about change in the world with the simple message that: ALL HUMAN INTERACTION SHOULD BE VOLUNTARY!
Voluntary Japan, or VJ! for short, is a loose association of individuals residing in, or connected to, Japan, seeking to live their lives in the freest, fullest, happiest ways possible. VJ's online presence is all about spreading the message of principled voluntaryism by way of vlogging, farming, trading, writing, community-building, debate, and meaningful, constructive conversation. The revolution is a philosophical one, and is multifaceted! When the individual changes, the "macro" reality changes as a natural result. There's no need for big, centralized "master plans" or visions "for humanity." It all starts with the individual.
Through sharing bits and pieces of interesting, fun, pertinent, and/or compelling aspects of Japanese culture, it is my belief that we have a good vehicle for delivering the message of individual self-ownership and non-violence to individuals both here in Japan, and around the world.
It may come as a surprise to some, but even though there are some dark aspects to Japanese culture (as there are in every authoritarian, violence-based nation state), I and so many others I know have found that we feel more free here than we did in our home countries. People just generally mind their own business, and live and let live. Even folks that don't consider themselves "anarchists," "libertarians," or "voluntaryists," tend in many ways to live out the values inherent to these philosophies, whether they identify as these labels or not.
On top of this, cryptocurrencies are exploding here, the entrepreneurial spirit is strong, and enthusiastic innovation is happening every day.
I just met a fellow last night, actually, who is starting his own insurance company to compete and disrupt the mainstream racket. A math whiz who discovered while working for a major company that the insurance game is a ponzi scam, and is essentially a kind of gambling.
My good friend Nick (@nicksikorski) is starting up his permaculture farming operation down in Nagano.
"Bitcoin Jesus," aka Roger Ver (@rogerkver) has a headquarters here in Tokyo, promoting Bitcoin at Bitcoin.com
@maxinpower and @boxcarblue are blogging, talking crypto, and practicing peaceful parenting.
Lots is happening here everywhere, all the time.
