Very interesting. Copyright can definitely be a pain in the butt. I remember a show I used to watch on TV called Tour of Duty. It was about the Viet Nam war and came out around the same time as China Beach. It had a fantastic soundtrack and they even used "Paint it Black" as the theme song. Then it came out on DVD and they didn't have the rights for the songs anymore, so basically the whole soundtrack was stripped out. Talk about a bummer. I think Ally McBeal was the same way which is part of the reason it took so long for it come out on DVD. This guys job kind of reminds me of Tom Cavanagh(loved him in Ed) in the short lived show Love Monkey. He was basically a music scout for a big name label that got fired and started working at an indie label. Lots of going around listening to bands and stuff like that. Sounds like a dream job to me!
