A Jail in Colombia - Como es una Carcel en Colombia

Imagine a prison where the prisoners carry loaded firearms and some even have hand grenades. It exists in Colombia, the La Modelo Prison in Bogota. I'm not sure if it is still this bad, maybe some Colombians can chime in on that.

The prison in this documentary is divided in 3 parts. One for the left wing communist guerrillas. One side for the right wing, pro government, paramilitaries. And one part is inhabited by business men i.e. drug dealers/traffickers.

A funny thing you can see in the video is that the business men installed telephone booths despite having access to telephones is prohibited inside the jail. They also installed showers and build new, better cells.
If you don't belong to the communist guerrillas you'll have to pay rent to have a cell, else tough luck, you'll have to sleep in the open air. The prison is a village on it's own.
