When I lived upstate we got hit with the hurricane (sandy) And every other tree got uprooted , no one did any maintenance on these trees or took down the dead ones till after. It seems to be a common tale in general!
Literally hundreds of dead trees and no one acted till after a storm.
Ahh Mother Nature will handle it. Lol. There is a guy I work with that went there for hurricane sandy. Traveled all the way from Washington state. He said it was a cool experience and got to meet the guy who sells Martha stewart her goat cheese.
I like having trees around, except when something like this happens. And of course, it can also happen through groundwater saturation and a little bit of wind. So, in my mind, it's better to have the trees at a good distance away from the house, any outbuildings and the power lines. Then, make sure to maintain the trees you have. That way, whether it's you or mother nature, you're not causing you're own damage issues.

Many plant trees not realizing how tall they will eventually get. I do like me some shade during the summer, but a crushed house... no thanks. 😉
The insulator coming off the step-down transformer looks rough, lol.
Good on you helping them out and advising them on the other problems. Maybe they'll trim their trees and cut a few down.
Ya it had some melted plastic from a bird guard and some soot, but it cleaned up nicely 😉
