Week 46 (July 2019)

Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!

End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.

On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!

Domains Recently Developed

I've got two 4 figure sales and one 5 figure sale to share today. These domains all sold last month, June 2019 and have since been developed or put to use. One of the three is a crypto related domain so it's not hard to guess that it's the one that hit 5 figures... and you'd be right in guessing that. Crypto is still unpredictable as ever but one thing is for sure there's still an interest and development in it. As such, money continues to flow into this industry and domains that are crypto related continue to sell for high amounts.

I have watched other trends in domain keywords come and go and crypto seemed like it would do the same, (and it probably will given enough time) but it's just a niche that remains hot. I didn't go heavy into crypto related domains because I try not to chase the trends... Crypto is one such trend that still hasn't faded away just yet. I can't help but wonder if there are any good names left to get on the cheap, but in domaining no matter the niche, it's never all that cheap! Quality costs money! Anyway, here's the recent developments.

DynamicTrades.com

The first domain is DynamicTrades.com. This domain sold for $3,366 dollars at BuyDomains on June 12th, 2019. The site up is a construction company in Sacramento.

Based on the two words, "Dynamic" and "Trading", I would have thought this would be a crypto related site, but it's not! To me this is a valuable domain simply as long as we have this crypto trend. I do like this domain.

Coord.com

Next we have Coord.com. This domain sold for $5,752 dollars at DropCatch on June 18th, 2019. Currently the domain redirects to coord.co which is a company that collects and coordinates city and community data.
According to their site,

"We help government agencies, architects, engineers, and construction firms get the valuable data they need to build and regulate transportation infrastructure in the way that works best for everyone in the city. We also work with logistics and mobility companies to put that data to use in order to optimize their trip planning and better comply with regulations."

As for the domain, I like it as an improvement for this company. I'm a little surprised they haven't started using it yet but .co is a solid domain extension too, so they can take their time to transition. Although it might not be a real word, it's brandable and pronounceable. It's short and ends in .com, BUT it doesn't pass the radio test. You'd have to spell it out to someone over the phone or on the radio... For that reason, I'll say it's an okay domain. It's pretty good, and you could do a lot worse than this!

Swipe.io

Finally, we have our crypto related domain / business. Swipe.io. This domain sold for $68,000 dollars at Park.io on June 10th, 2019. The site at the domain is promoting a new app coming soon that allows you to spend cryptocurrency from your phone I believe.

As for the domain, it's solid. I like the single short keyword, 'swipe' and it just makes sense for some kind of payment app. HOWEVER, it's a .io and wow did they pay a lot for it! Imagine the value on Swipe.com now?! I like this domain, but as an investor I wouldn't have paid that much. As an end user though, I get it. I've sold .io domains and they do well!

Anyway, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
