Week 7 (October 2018)

Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!

End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.

On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!

Domains Recently Developed

It's all .com domains this week, and all of them sold for over $1,000 dollars including a crypto related site that almost hit 5k. Enjoy!

ContractHub.com

First up is ContractHub.com. This domain sold on September 5th, 2018 for $3,400 dollars at BuyDomains. The site that's up now on the domain calls itself a simple contract management platform. They go on to say, "ContractHub automates the drafting, signing and management of your common agreements and forms."

I like this domain name and it's a fair price for a decent name. It's brandable and easy to remember. I think the enduser is a perfect fit for the name and hopefully they're happy with it too.

DeerOptics.com

Next up is DeerOptics.com which sold on September 7th, 2018. The domain sold for $2,353 dollars at Sedo. The site that pulls up for the domain refers to MN Optics as the company and it appears they own mnoptics.com as well. They're in the business of research and the manufacture of glasses.

I'm not sure I understand the meaning of the name Deer Optics, but it's definitely a brandable name. I would not invest in this kind of domain name personally, as it's such a specific sounding name. Using a generic word with a targeted word can make a great name, but it's very difficult to invest in these kinds of names and get it right for what the end user wants.

That said, perhaps it works for this company. They do have a deer hopping about in their navigation, so they must like the name.

CryptoDesk.com

Lastly, we have CryptoDesk.com. This domain sold on September 5th, 2018 for $4,605 dollars at DropCatch. At the moment the domain is redirecting to cryptodesk365.com which appears to be a cryptocurrency trading community. They say they are a, "full-service platform for buying, selling, and trading cryptos and altcoins."

I'm guessing the purchase of CryptoDesk.com is due to growth and their intention to shift and drop the 365, which in my opinion would be a good move. I don't like CryptoDesk365.com but I do like CryptoDesk.com. It's brandable and simple to say and remember.

Also, I say this all the time but I do like to see continued growth in the crypto and blockchain space. So, It's nice to see this domain go to an end user and at a decent price.

Well, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
