|| Ahead of Ramadan, Hundreds of Thousands of Somalia Population Flooded ||
By the end of Ramadan, the country is nicknamed the Horn of Africa with a majority of the Muslim population is besieged flood. Throughout the month of April, rainfall experienced a fairly high increase. It changed the two rivers that divide Somalia ie Shabelle and Juba which initially receded, then experienced a sharp increase in water flow.
As a result, flash floods struck many areas of Somalia such as Hiraan, Bay, Middle Juba, Lower Juba, Geda, Banaadir, Middle Shabelle, Galgaduud. Based on data released by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) confirmed that the flood disaster that hit Somalia is the worst floods in decades.
It is estimated that the number of victims affected by the floods reached 700,000 people, including 214,200 people are refugees. This condition allegedly worsened the situation of the refugees who live all-round limitations in a very vulnerable building collapsed.
Friends, still clinging to our minds, almost even one year ago, this Somali Muslim population was tested with a severe drought. Not yet recovered, the shoulders now add to the burden of their lives in the midst of the limitations of life in a refugee camp.
