THE DESIRE OF JIREN IN CASE HE WINS THE TOURNAMENT OF POWER MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN OBTAINED BY VEGETA IN DRAGON BALL SUPER

Vegeta was the biggest villain throughout the Saiyans' saga in Dragon Ball Z. But after all his years living on the planet he tried to destroy, Vegeta eventually became one of Earth's most powerful guardians.

But he would not be the person he is today if it were not for his rivalry with Goku. Vegeta used to be someone who remembers Jiren very much and his attitude about power. He believed that the strong will get everything they want and that the weak will always be pathetic.

He believed that only the strong would survive while the weak would die. This belief of Vegeta seems very much to Jiren's thinking that the weak should follow the strong. During the Buu Saga, Vegeta told Gohan that those who were turned into stone by Daburah did so for being weak, and that the weak are doomed to die.

It seems that Jiren has the same vision of the world that Vegeta had one day. However, when Vegeta crashed into a wall called Son Goku (and other factors such as Bulma and Trunks), he learned the art of fighting to protect. The great influence of Goku to change his opponents is what separates him from Jiren.

The ability to get out of the past and start a new life, and being able to get stronger is something that Jiren does not have. He still lives in the past with no one to protect. His obsession with protecting Universe 11 originated from the deception he feels for himself for having been weak before. This is why the fight between Vegeta and Jiren was an important battle even though it was unilateral, even more so than the fight between Jiren and Goku, since that fight was more than a battle of power, but a battle of principles.
