Since scaring someone is an effective way to cure hiccups, they should grab him and threaten to chuck him in a bath. Cats hate baths so I'm about 80% sure this would work.

My cat once decided that she was going to drink out of the bath tub becase reasons. The bath tub was half full at the time and she usually sits on the edge with her paws braced down the side til she can reach. She's done this before.
Just that one time, her front paws slipped and she ended up in the drink. There was chaos and splashing and before I could do anything to help this wet large kitten-sized cat broke free of the bath tub and left a trail of water through the house.
She was fine, and she never drank from the bath tub again XD
So I think throwing Purwood into a pond might be more effective than threatening to chuck him into a bath. Unless he's like a tiger, they like swimming.
