I drew a pumpko man :O + Drawing process inside

Pumpko small

So yesterday before sunrise was an interesting morning. I slept in the afternoon the day before, and was programming, but had a long and really pleasant talk with @artsygoddess, and she said that she had drawn a pumpkin man. I couldn't do Inktober last year, and this year I've been paying some attention to it.

It turns out she drew the pumpkin for Drawtober instead, but anyway it's really cool. I've been wanting to improvise a little bit in my drawings and have been doing a bit of that recently. I saw that her drawing could use some references for more "anatomic accuracy", so I looked for some references and doodled a pumpko man:

But I don't like things that are SO incomplete! I have to do some things to make them look a bit fuller. I've published some of that and I always end up kinda regretting it and feeling as if I should have done more. So I coloured his robe:

Aaand, well, I saw the pumpkin and had a little voice in my head saying "such little effort! will you really publish a drawing you feel uncomfortable about?", so I went a bit above the doodle level and studied the proportions of a pumpkin and filled pumpko man's head and coloured it until it felt more like a proper pumpko-hed.

It's still a doodle, very incomplete and sketchy but that's what it is. I went more for the representation of an idea, and that's what I want to do nowadays. I want to explore what I can do with my imagination when I draw in order to become a "fuller" artist, and not stay too long perfecting what has already reached my intended level of completion (usually a vague development for creative training).

Hey...it's finished when YOU say it is! I like the contrast. His body doesn't have to be fully realized...it's his pumpkin head that matters! Nice work!

♥ Yupyup! :D I'm glad you liked it.

I like it! Teach me senpai!
