Cryptic Discoveries 000 : Fasttracker 2 Modern Clone / Impulse Tracker, download link & super cool article with extra information!!!
From time to time, i stumble with stuff that it's just a bit weird but fascinating...
And today, i found a Modern cloned version of FastTracker 2!!!
but what the hell it's this thing??? well, i went to check the manual and here's what the introduction says, i think it's pretty cool to read old documentation...just strange i know...
We started working on FastTracker 2.0 in June-93. Our ambition was to write a music
program that could set a new standard in the confused PC-scene. Right now there's too many
programs out there, all with a new module format. We wrote FT2 so that it could last for a
few years, except from hardware updates.
What we've tried to do is not multiplying all figures by 256, we've tried to make composing
easier. Some other tracker designers have tried to revolt the music scene by allowing you put 2or 3 times more effects into your song. Who want to do more effects? We made instruments
instead of a bunch of effect columns. We hope we've succeeded to reach our ambitions and we hope you'll find Fasttracker 2 useful.
That really didn't said a lot huh??? ok, so, long story short, Fasttracker 2 is one of the most widely used trackers out there. It has been around since 1995 when a demo group called Triton set about releasing their own tracker after breaking into the scene in 1992 and winning several demo competitions. just check this 2 examples on youtube :D quite cool stuff for 95', and cryptic as fuck for me that i didn't had the opportunity to experience this :')

i share it here because i think many will find this tool quite amusing for it's historical value :D for me, it's mind-blowing to see this stuff around the net... like lonely tumbleweed on the desert of the information, just rolling and rolling... following a very inevitable path, and it doesn't matter how soon or later it'll happen, you'll just find it... as the article says..."it’s kind of amazing this thing even exists."!!!
