in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

Hey, guys!

With all that's been happening with @iamjadeline(her son is currently in the hospital due a severe lung condition. Show her some love)and her family right now, It got me wondering if we'll ever reach a point where living of Steemit will be an option to the average steemit user.

Hope you enjoy the episode.

Thanks for listening!

I prefer to take a step back when looking at the "monetization" of tokenized incentive blockchain content platform like Steem.

It is at it's core a content platform, which is not a new thing on the internet. There was Medium, Blogspot, all the social media not to mention personal websites which all serves the same purpose.

hitherto, making money by posting stuff on the web is a long term endeavor, people can't even make a cent out of it until they get a sizable following. and even then they have to do it themselves, affliating, ads application, sponsorship, and all those stuff..

It's only with Steemit when we see a chance in making money as simple as getting a single upvote. One. Single. Upvote.

Tell that to a 10 year blogspot blogger and very likely they'll go batshit.

If we see Steem and it's dapps through that lens we'll see that we're at a HUGE advantage. It might be hard to live entirely off Steem from the get go but the same is utterly impossible for traditional blogging / vlogging.

With that perspective, I cant be anymore grateful to the folks who made this possible. @ned, @dan, @steemitdev, even Satoshi Nakamoto himself.

10 year blogger = Me... adsense and monetization in traditional blog sucks big time, it give too much benefits to the advertisers but not the blogger. I was even grateful if I earn enough just to fund my websites yearly, for the server and all.

I agree with @awesomianist and to make a living out of blogging is not easy here in our country. Bloggers are not really united out there and far from helping each other up. Some are just so stingy that they only care about their earning but not quality of their posts.

I'm glad I discover Steemit though. I move slow in here but at least even in a small way, the efforts is appreciated.

Hahaha.... No offense intended. Yes I was aware how things are in the adsense blogger space in Malaysia. Very Zero-sum minded.

I'm sure you stand testament to how better steemit is in making bucks full time compared to traditional blogging.

I really hope one day being a Steemian becomes a legit profession.

it's ok bro, none taken hahaha

If you ask me how better is steemit, it's far far better! What I earned from my first month on steemit last year was more than what I earn in a year through my traditional blog. but that is the bonus, the best part of steemit is the community :)

woah....

Thanks for the thoughtful comment :)
