"Teachings of the Pajarillo": Venezuelan music for the world
It is a pleasure for me to present in this interesting area a musical composition that contains elements of great virtuosity and difficulty in its interpretation. It is the work of the Venezuelan violinist Williams Naranjo, "Enseñanzas del Pajarillo" ("Teachings of the Pajarillo"). The work is written for Violin and Guitar and is inspired by a rhythm typical of Venezuelan popular music, specifically in the Joropo Llanero. The musical form of this work is based on the Venezuelan Pajarillo and contains elements of a high violinist technique.
Williams Naranjo composed this work with the intention of combining the technical and virtuous possibilities that the Violin can offer with a popular musical form of the Venezuelan plains. In this way, this extraordinary violinist manages to combine the academic and the popular, promoting, at the same time, a new musical dimension where there are no limits between the technical elements of instruments such as the Violin and the Guitar and the new musical forms that resurfaced as part of the Transcultural process that we have lived from colonization to the present day. This musical hybridization is the result of a systematized process of studying the violinist technique with a creative attitude around the Venezuelan cultural identity; a rethinking of the experiences - perceptions that musicians like Williams Naranjo have to record the old, the new and their own. That is to say, the experience is manifested from the observance of the tradition but, with new and own looks. This is what makes this musical work of Williams Naranjo a Great Venezuelan Musical Work for Violin and Guitar.
To perform this work requires a lot of discipline and study of the instrument and this is what has made this consummate violinist in his career as a professional musician. In this attempt to elevate Venezuelan music, Williams Naranjo relies on musical passages of the great composers, and does so with an exceptional mastery that leaves high his high bill as a violinist. Particularly, I consider Williams Naranjo one of the best Venezuelan violinists and in this work it is evident what I say.
