Dstors shutting down//Dcommerce remains//Drama over?

in #dstors5 years ago (edited)

Yesterday the Dstors account made an announcement about ceasing all operations and moving away from the Steem blockchain. LINK
Does that mean they will continue to work on the project elsewhere? I cannot be 100% sure, but this quote might be a pointer.

"but the world is bountiful with opportunities and it's time to explore the horizons."

The drama that has been going on for a few weeks between Haejin (investor/part owner) and Derangedvisions/Kaliju (idea creators) is apparently coming to a close as well as the short-lived competition between the two platforms "Dstors" and "Dcommerce".

There has been a lot of talk these last few weeks about the happenings with Dstors and while many will just wave it away as "just some more STEEM drama" i think we should use this as a cautionary tale moving forward.
This might have not been a major event the likes of the "Dlive debacle" but it is right up there. A project with 1 million SP delegated at one point will not see completion.

Im not trying to put blame on any side in this but there have been obvious mistakes made during the time Dstors was coming into existence.
It goes to show that creating a successful project takes more then a good idea and some STEEM delegation. Imo, The human variable is an important one to pay attention to.

I personally believe that the STEEM blockchain is potentially at a big loss because of this and i hope the project still standing, Dcommerce, will manage to achieve its goals and succeed with the implementation of this idea.

With Dstors and Dcommerce existing, this idea had two shots of succeeding. Now we are left with only one.

Keep on Steeming and ill see you around.

I wonder if it was only drama what made them beat it?

It was a lot of thing. You should have read it all. It was a big mess.

If I had known that the there was a secret partner and who it was, I would have never delegated 3K to the effort. After the split and discovering the who that person was, I stuck with it because at least they were not partners anymore.

I think there would have been a severe lack of support if the secret partnership would have been known and would have doomed the project anyway. Hence the reason for the secrecy.

For this reason, I highly doubt that dcommerce will stand much of a chance. I would expect that they would have to primarily fund the project themselves without the support of the community.

Yeah, i completely agree. His reputation in the community is at such a low level that i think the Dstors team not disclosing who the part owner/investor is, was deliberate.
Still, turning his reputation for the better can be done fairly easily. Question is: Does he want to?

Wow. Ok, so now there is one.

Very interesting matter... This is the second post I am reading regarding this project shutting down...

But what was all the fuss about anyways?? Did I miss something when reading through the posts?( I realize it might just be a dumb question I am posting at this point... But please just humor me.)

Check the comment section of the dstors post of @whatsup. She started it. 😂
Then move on to Haejin, Dstors, derangedvisions accounts to read more..

To sum it up. A 1 mil delegation project failed in less then a couple weeks. Dcommerce was created from the fallout by Haejin but it has a questionable future at this moment.
Things can always change though.
