Blockbrothers video tutorial: How to vote for a witness.

Voting for a witness is an important part of being a Steemian.

Witnesses play an important part on the Steem blockchain (see here).

We kept seeing people either not knowing how to vote, or getting there halfway. Therefor we decided to show it visually through a small videotutorial as well as below in textform.

The process of voting for a witness.

You start by going to the menu in the top right corner where all the steemit related functions like the FAQ and market are. The one we are looking for is here as well. Vote for witnesses.

We will take voting for blockbrothers as an example.

When you select that, you’ll be taken to the voting page. Here you will see the top 50 witnesses listed for easy voting. As you will notice, blockbrothers is not yet listed here.

It is important to know though that you can vote for any steemit account you wish, using the manual vote field. Here, you fill in the account name you wish to vote for, which in this case will be blockbrothers . After that press you press vote.

Voting for a witness will require your active key. Paste that in the password field and sign in.

Now the next part is important.
After you pressed that vote button you are done, the vote is cast, which you can see by the witness name showing up beneath the vote field. You do NOT want to press the upvote icon. That will actually remove the vote you just placed.

If you have a hard time deciding which witnesses to vote for (seeing as you have 30 votes to give) you can always choose blockbrothers as your proxy in the 2nd field instead. Just as with the single normal voting, this will require your active key as well.

This way, you will automatically vote for any witness the blockbrothers vote for. Obviously we handle being a proxy with care and only vote for solid witnesses.
