2 Minutes with the Farmer: Why We Bushhog on the Farm!!!
Today on 2 Minutes with the Farmer we are talking bushhogging. Bushhoging is what we call mowing weeds here in Kentucky. Part of managing our land is controlling the weeds. Our goal is to use goat power to eat up all the weeds on the farm but we need more goats. In the meantime we mow them down with the tractor.

It seems to me that you are a grass farmer first and the cows and goats are tools to help you grow the grass ;) Do you ever need to fertilize or use weed killer to help the grass?
You nailed it. We grow grass and use the cattle and goats to harvest it and turn it into meat.
We have not had to use fertilizer. We buy all our hay and that does put back a lot of nutrients into the soil. We don’t use any chemicals on the fields

Yes three blades. Prolly take 5 more years to get all goat power

A bushhog is a lot nicer to use than walking through the fields with a hoe or machete like I used to as a kid.
That is very true. Sitting in the ac mowing almost doesn’t seem right;)
