RE: Helping New Steemians

in #dtube5 years ago

My biggest irritation on Steemit (blockchain) or more specifically Dtube, is I can't upload my 24min to 26min videos. I've been uploading to Dtube for years and suddenly I'm getting error message like "attach video" when I've obviously just tried to upload one.

I use HandBreak to compress the file to 1080x720 30fps, but I just can't upload them. All my other videos are fine.

Thanks for your comment @buzweaveryoutube, now first of all, that's way to high resolution.

Dtube videos have a maximum resolution of 480p so uploading any higher is unnessecary and wasting bandwidth.

I used Youcut on my phone to format this video to 480p and used medium quality, it became just 88 megabytes, took just 5 minutes to upload.

There is also another thing to look out for, and that is to never login using SteemConnect when uploading, it can refuse to publish, so use either Steem Keychain or your Posting Key.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for the information! I also find it useful. I use my Posting Key.

Understood, however even dialing back on the resolution its having issues on the long form videos. Today's Friday Vlog is 1080p 60fps compressed with HandBrake at 1280x720 with no problems. I'll try a lower resolution and see if that will work.

Yeah, do that and make sure you are not using SteemConnect, I had some serious problems with that a week ago, before I figured out what caused it.

So I found out one more thing here, there is an upload limit of 1GB, and it doesn't say so right out, it starts the upload and then fail without saying why.

The files aren't nearly that large despite the fact that the video is 26 minutes. I'm trying to upload in Privacy Mode on FF. I'm used HandBreak and using 720x480 and the file size is 196 KB.

I was having some hit and miss issues uploading to BitChute too. I've checked my Windows Defender and MalWareBytes too. This just started happening this Monday April 8th. Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot this with me.

No problem man, now since you mentioned such a specific date and Firefox I did some digging.

So that's the exact same date that Firefox released it's latest version, which includes a default media blocking feature.

I don't know if that helps, but check it out, it could help.

I got it to work with Chrome. I filled out the various description fields by just writing Test. Then I went back and did an edit to fill out the various sections. For some reason when I view it from Steemit Blog, it doesn't show the video image.

I'll experiment with it a little more when I get ready to upload the next video.

Great that you got it to work, so about the image, did you upload that after uploading the video?

Nearly every time I upload the image as the video is also uploading. I've been uploading to Dtube for over a year now and typically I'll start the upload, then upload the image and then proceed to fill out all the description boxes.

I know people have said to let the video and image upload first, but its not been an issue till this Monday April 8th. I've not posted anything about it in the Mozilla FF Forums, but I may.

Thanks. I'll stop by the FF Forums and see what's up.
