What up my peeps, welcome to the @D00k13 Digest, yesterday we went to Sooke Potholes for a leisurely walk with Jerry checking out how the water is at this excellent swimming spot. Being our first day off we made it more about the relaxing than the activities but we still enjoyed ourselves while walking up the trails just far enough to get a good view of the second swimming area from up above.

So many things to capture your attention from interesting rock formations cut by the water to being completely surrounded by forest.

Starting from the bottom free parking area we had to be careful walking up the narrow road to come to our first stop at the waterfall just up from the first bridge currently not so water fallish with the drought we are having. Great cool water swimming hole hidden from most looking down over the bridge you can watch the traffic while wading in a secluded spot.

The first public swimming area is a little quick flowing for anyone wanting to relax but still has many great rocks to jump from and a few nice deep pools.

The second public swimming area is much slower flowing and the typical hangout for most with its sandy beaches. This is the deepest area with all the good jumping cliffs to be found on the opposite side of the main beach. So many crazy rock formations here cut by the water during winter flooding making for excellent exploring with many spots to enter and get out of the water without ever needing to touch bottom.

All in all it was an excellent day though we did not swim we very well could have as the water was not cold at all.

If you ever make it to Vancouver Island I highly suggest checking out Sooke Potholes during the summer and get some swimming in or even the winter months and check out how crazy the river gets!
