One of the best Reggae Acts I only knew of recently-Alpha Blondy & The Solar System - Sebe Allah -

I am not sure how I came across Alpha Blondy, but the first song that I heard was”Rainbow in the sky”. When I heard it I was like “Who is this, and why haven’t I heard of him before?”
Born in 1953 in Dimbokro Ivory Coast, Seydou Knoe was aspiring to be a teacher and migrated to the United States to further his English education. While in NY he met Jamaicans, more specifically Rastas and saw Reggae concerts with such acts as Burning spear. It seems Blondy had a thing for getting into trouble with police whether at home or abroad. Blondy’s childhood friend who became a TV producer brought him into the music and he has been on that path ever since. Blondy is known as the Bob Marley of Africa and I can see why, his songs are about political affairs, spirituality and all round motivation of the vibration.

Blondy even received the 2005 United Nations Ambassador of Peace for his song Côte d'Ivoire. (Did I mention Blondy speaks and sings in many languages?) Alpha Blondy helped to bring about a peaceful solution to the division in his country and started a foundation known as the Alpha Blondy Jah Glory Foundation that works towards ending social injustice and generational poverty through giving the people the tools they need to better their lives. He is a really great activist and musician, I can see why they call him the Bob Marley of Africa, but the way I see it, he is a King on his own thrown. Listen to the greatness on his music.

Here is my personal favorite, Rainbow in the sky. I will be listening to his works throughout the week to catch the vibrations on his powerful messages.

Ivorian singer Alpha Blondy and his band The Solar System is regarded as one of the best live acts in the world of Reggae.
Blondy, also referred to as 'The African Bob Marley', broke through with his debut album Jah Glory in 1982 and since then has never left the international stage.
He is also a staunch supporter of African unity, religious tolerance and world peace and to this end is known to sing to Muslim audiences in Hebrew and in Arabic to Israelis. Some of his best-known songs include "Cocody Rock," "Jerusalem," and "Apartheid Is Nazism."
With the release of his new album 'Life' in the spring 2018, Alpha will be celebrating 40-years in the music business.
