DTube Sounds like a Gay Porn Site
The concept of DTube is great much like Steemit. Is it time for a name change? Should Steemit just start supporting video content as well as articles? My opinion is bias because i already have a Steemit account. But looking at the DTube website is looks very beta compared to Steemit. I remember the old days of youtube being similar. Its hard not to notice that their are porn sites programmed better then DTube and with names that could pass as a reputable video site before DickTube. The the creator Adrien M said himself, "the walls can come crashing down at any time". Well Adrien why not pick a more appropriate name. If you called it PTube i would think is was a video site for water sports (Pee Porn).
Yes this is a rant but I also want to hear what my fellow Steemers feel on this topic. Maybe if this becomes a real conversation it will get noticed and add some change to this platform that doesn't need to be held back by something stupid like a bad name. Marketing is everything and that starts with a catchy name that rolls of the tongue. Comment with a name suggestion below and if Steemit should just add video so we can work all on one site. Call it "Streemit" XD
I will never get a DTube because id rather make less money on youtube then to say I make videos for a website called DTube. In my opinion don't even use the word Tube its copying an old word for TV that youtube probably regrets using to begin with. Tube is American slang not used by people globally its as irrelevant as the British word Telly. This is The Internet don't confuse it with something as basic as the television. Which is just a monitor that only receives watered down transmissions half baked with ads you can't block. It is an insult to even compare the two.

@dtube is the result of the effort of a single man who decided to give some productivity to his free time between saying goodbye to his last job and hoping to get the next one.
In search of a proof of concept, @heimindanger did an improvised work along with the name as well.
Then it gained a lot of attention and is now well known as the decentralized version of Youtube and that is why it has that name (where "D" means "decentralized").
Sounds cool but your making the whole project seam a bit half-ass. I’m sure he put all his energy into the idea he proudly developed. He had a dream to never work towards any dream but his own. Some people are a genious at what others find impossible but those same genious are bad at something like marketing which is a completely different beast in itself.
I personally have never gotten into DTube just because I use Steemit, I don't really care for having to access multiple sites ie DLive, DTube, Steepshot, etc. Steepshot is the one alternate to Steemit I use as it's a clean simple interface and meant for photos and stuff on my phone. I realize I could use eSteem but I prefer to keep my Steemit activities to my computer as I don't like to type on my phone but don't mind posting from Steepshot. I remember when I first got on Steepshot I didn't totally understand the interaction between Steepshot and Steemit. I was kind of surprised what I posted on Steepshot also appeared in my Steemit blog feed, I thought they'd be seperate.
As for DTube I hear a lot of my buddies on here saying they like it and earn well from it but I find it glitchy, I don't really care for the interface, the content isn't as good as Youtube, granted it's younger I realize that, and I just don't like having to login to another site. I also dont like that they take 25% of the rewards and only host videos for 5 years.
I agree it sounds like a video site about dicks. Where does the "D" come from? Why isn't it Steemit Tube or SteemTube, oops scratch that, sounds like it could be a scat site with poop porn
I agree that its too much having another account especially when I haven't got any traction on the first one. Its also a big leap to have a video only page because i wouldn't have enough content. Maybe a video on Steemit every once in awhile would be more my style.
Youtube is also hard to compete with as of right now because of how successful it has gotten in recent years. The only thing that could make it fork is by becoming less connected and more catered to projects with a real budget. Then we would see a platform for people who just wanna upload home videos.
I really hope Steemit doesn't sell out either. It has a lot of potential to grow and now with facebook's true intentions being brought to light the world might need a new place to connect.
Yeah people talk about how DTube is gonna knock Youtube out, GFTO, not happening anytime soon. Youtube has some amazing content and has lots of long form content and very well produced content, things like Vice Documentaries are a favorite of mine. Your just not gonna find that type of stuff on DTube/Steemit. The fact we can only earn for 7 days doesn't really make it worthwhile to create long form content for here because you earn for 7 days and nothing after that where as on Youtube they are gonna keep making ad money forever. As it stands now DTube and even Steemit to some extent, at least in my opinion and for me personally is only worth doing if your also making content for another platform. I make Youtube content so I can come over here and post it here as well. If I wasn't on Youtube highly doubtful I would be making content for Steemit which pays me maybe $1 per video if I'm lucky.
Youtube also has an amazing algorithm. I can start watching one Youtube video and 6 hours later realized I've gone down the wormhole of watching one video after another after another. I dont find myself doing that on Steemit or DTube I really have to seek out content I wanna watch.
I agree to much of first part, but that of steepshot. I never could get it to work for my photos off ph and I now use snapseed. Do you know¿ is there a means of uploading video to steemit that does Not use utube or Dtube? Please. Thank-you. A dummie with a phone and no cpu. 😇
Many words start with the letter D. English isn’t the only language in the world and in fact I doubt dick starts with a d in many languages.
D stands for decentralized in our case and maybe we should do more branding about that, but I’m pretty sure the name of our site is only half the reason why you think about dicks 🙃
I know D is a letter of the alphabet but on the internet D means the male phallus. ie She wants the D or succ my D

How about a compromise I’ll even let you keep the Tube part. Call it DecentTube. It’s modest and defines the platform which was the original intent of the name. The domain is available. Lmk I’m full of ideas for the masses :) stay positively reinforced @heimindanger
