How-to: Repair a hay ring....Again!

in #dtube5 years ago

So today it happened again. The hay ring that I had recently repaired was broke in two by the bull. I am sure it was just from some excited back scratching, but never the less it broke.

Previously I added steel plates to the weak points and to connect the two halves together. My welds didn't stand a chance. Today we tried something different. We used rebar to make D shaped rings. They aren't solid, so they move around a bit, but I hope it will keep the two pieces together. I hope you are enjoying our adventure!

Man this is a very good example for sustainability and trust in your own hands! Of course for you is it nothing special to repair this big thing but for a lot people bout there, repairing is not an option because they don't trust there capabilities. Thanks for showing us the message in between the lines :)

If you happen to remember, what kind of prep did you do before welding the first time?

Prep? As in grinding and such? Not too much 😳 it was 8°f.....so we werent at it too long. Today....much more haha
