Came across this video a few minutes ago and I wanted to chime in. Be sure to check out @nathanmars video on d.tube by clicking the link above.

If you've been paying attention, the media landscape is changing rapidly. -From Fox trying to buy Disney and Viacom snagging AwesomenessTV for less than the market valued it.

Right now, video creator are screaming foul about the youtube profit splits. It's difficult to earn a living creating content on the platform so everyone is looking for the next best thing. After, Vine died there was only YT left. However, IGTV has thrown a wrench in the game with long-form video uploads. Keep an eye on them because Facebook own the company and noone has more analytical data on you, your friends and almost anyone on the planet than FB. All it would take is for IGTV to add sponsor buttons and it's a wrap for YT.

I recently had a discussion(more like I told him and he didn't reply) on LinkedIn about paid cable vs OTT(Over the top. basically streaming). Less and less people are watching paid cable because you don't get enough value from it. Plus, most of us grew up in the napster era so paywalls are easily avoided. We all know 1 hour after a show has aired you can find it online for free.

With more and more people attached to their smartphone it only makes sense that digital media platform will be the king of content... however, which one do you choose?

From an unknown source(lol), I have been lead to believe that the future of content is niche. Meaning instead of going to Netflix and youtube being inundated with content mostly irrelevant to you, people will more likely visit niche platforms such as a Netflix-like but with only cooking videos or a YT like site with only sports videos.

I think d.tube is part of the first iteration of platforms  allowing the user to have full control and owner of their content while making profit by way of crypto. Like any other platform, if d.tube does not continue to innovate or it will be left in the dust.

To sum it up. I don't think it really matters. Good content will always have an audience that will volunteer to pay you as a show of support for the free quality content.
