3 tips for Camping on the Lake in Bali

#Bali #IAMDIMITRI #Camping

The was a holiday in Bali and we decided to camp. In the beginning it was only me and my wife. She invited her friend! Her friend invited her boyfriend and a sister. That how more and more people joined us and we became a group of 14 friends camping.

It was really nice and fun!
The tips in this video is kinda obvious but important!

Some first campers may think that its ok to camp in Bali without matres or sleeping bag because it's tropical! But tropical can be cold too!

Mosquito is an obvious one!

And shoes is also obvious!

There are snakes in Bali so be careful!

This is just a test, if people like and share this video many time, it would tell me that people are interested in Camping video and I would make more video like this with more and better tips.

On the side note.
We where camping at Buyan Camping camp. It's a nice camps but it gets fully packed on holidays. But there are still places that are a bit further away. The forest is amazing.
The only thing I dislike about this place is the people who work here. They charge 10k IDR for entrance but if your skin is white they will charge 100k IDR. That's kind of racist. Even when I told them I was a local and I live in Bali they still wanted to change 100k. Even after I showed them my VISA.
We where 14 people and one them was a police officer who convinced them that by law they should charge 10k! Anyhow, we ended up paying 10k but it's not about the money, it's about principle and the fact that people who work here are greedy racists :(

PS:
I will happily collaborate with other people.
I'm constantly trying to find exiting and fun projects.

It is amazing how there is a price for a local and another price for the tourist. I agree it is just pure greed and should not be allowed. Principles do matter and I am glad you fought it.

There is lots of places like that here in Bali. Really annoying. If you are a tourist it's not that noticeable, but if you live here it is!

Tourists are blind too this luckily for them as it could backfire. I think it is just a common practice all over and it is terrible.

Good camping experience

I have recently read a few posts about Bali and the theme of racism has been in many of them. Also - trash and over-development have been big themes. I am glad you got out to enjoy nature and with so many friends :)

Some people just want to make the price higher for the tourists, to earn money. All touristy places do that all around the world. That's ok because everyone pays the same price. But further away from the touristy places, villagers are trying to imitate the same thing. They can't have one price because locals would not come but they are still greedy and want higher prices from tourists. Sad part is that villagers don't look at your tourist status, they just look at the skin colour! That's the problem! It leaves bad taste in your mouth. Other than that people are really nice and friendly here. I'd say that Balinese people are about 99% really polite and friendly! And the trash problem! YES. But it's not only Balinese there are trash from all over the world and rest of Indonesia coming here. It is also seasonal, the rain season will bring more trash! Balinese people are trying to fight it! Some well knows beaches are cleaned every day just to please tourists and they have banned plastic bags in lots of stores now. So they are making an effort! But ye all in all, at the moment Bali offers everything. From cazy parties to chill out yoga places. Big resorts to forest villas. Expensive food and $1 stalls. Bali can please every kind of tourist. But overall I'm happy in Bali :D

Thank you :D I guess I will have to make more camping videos for you :P

It's an interesting way to spend time in Bali.. I understand that you live there (after reading your post) and I think that most tourists would choose to spend time on a beach instead of camping at the lake. It is indeed beautiful there.. I can imagine that there are lots of mosquitoes as we also have them here close to rivers/lakes.. but luckily here you can't get sick from their bites..

I'm glad to hear that you negotiated lower price at the end even though I understand your point about being racist. On the other hand I think it's their way of making money but I'm still sorry that you have to experience that.

Thank you for sharing your video and I'm looking forward to seeing more videos from you :)

Ye, the higher prices happen from time to time. Villagers are the worst because they don't know good business practices. Having higher prices for tourist is understandable. But villagers are just looking at the skin colour that's the problem. Now that I have an official long term visa I count as a local, of course I will fight it on every turn =) But they also make the prices slightly higher if people don't know each other. So it's just a weird part of their culture. But not everybody is the same! for the most part like 99% of people I meet are really nice a friendly here!

That place looks pretty amazing mostly because it's undisturbed and not full of tourists. It's been a while since my last camping trip and I'm not sure I would be eager to throw myself to mosquitoes but still, that's a nice place. Congrats, the video is excellent.

Actually it is a well knows camping spot. There there many people camping here, maybe 1000! It was a holiday. They where loud and played music all knight >< But all of them where locals trying to have a great time on holiday. Here is a picture of that from above. We where lucky because we ventured further away from everybody else. And the place was undisturbed while we where there. But ye, 400m away or someting there where lots of people camping >< But overall this place was amazing, it's on the lake surrounded by jungle.

This is a totally different view 😀
That is why I thought it is a quiet place. Must be frustrating to have so many people around you and you have to listen to their music like it or not, even though you want to enjoy nature. Thank you very much for uploading this photo.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough. We didn't get disturbed. As you saw in the video, it was us and the lake. Those 1000 campers where far away from us. But when you read the reviews about this place, many people comment about it being loud and annoying, specially on holiday. It's because most people camp not far away from the entrance in large groups. Like if it where a festival. So ye. It is full of locals visiting this place all the time, but there are still places where you can be alone but you will have to wonder a bit further. Hope this makes a bit more clear :D We did enjoy ourselves here. But if other people want to visit and expect quiet, then they will have to wonder further back.

Yes, this is helpful, thank you. Unfortunately this happens all over the world. A few years ago we were on a trip up in the mountains, our purpose was to relax and enjoy nature. There were cabins all around us and instead of quiet and relaxation we got loud music, shouting, drunk people throwing empty bottles to our cabin. Good thing you had a bigger island and option to choose another place.

EDIT: Link to the picture got removed! And we where like 400meters away so it was quiet for us :D
