Leonardo Fibonacci, the Golden Ratio and Florentine Banking.
In this report, from Florence, Italy on Sunday, October 6th, 2019 I talk about my trip to Pisa for the day to visit the statue of Leonardo Fibonacci who was a distinguished Italian mathematician from the 12th century.
Fibonacci was the man behind the Fibonacci Sequence through which one can also derive the Golden Ratio or Phi which is 1.618. I also talk about how the Golden Ratio or the Golden Mean as it is sometimes called occurs in nature and also in financial markets.
To conclude this report I look at a long term chart of the price of gold and how the Golden Ratio and what we nowadays call Fibonacci Retracements are a very useful tool for navigating the markets. I also touch upon the history of banking in the Middle Ages and in particular in Florence.
