Today I look at an article or essay written by Congressman Howard Buffett back in 1948 in which he explains why a monetary system in which currency is redeemable in gold is not only paramount for economic prosperity but also for human freedom.

My conclusion from this article is that unless the general public learns about the nature of money and how important it is to have honest and sound money we will never live in a free society in which governments fear the public instead of what we have today which is a system where the public fears a Leviathan State.
