How to Create a Natural Makeup Look Using Just Your Fingers

Are you looking for a quick way to minimize your makeup routine? Applying natural makeup with your fingers is so easy to do and provides a quick way to apply your makeup in the morning if you’re in a rush to get out the door.

To begin, you will need to following tools:

• Clean fingers
• Moisturiser
• A light base (bb/cc cream, foundation or tinted moisturiser)
• Concealer
• Brow gel
• Eyeshadow or cream eyeshadow
• Cream blush
• Mascara
• Lipstick
• Loose powder (optional)
• Powder brush (optional)

Step 1: Prep Your Skin

Before you start applying makeup, make sure you’re starting off with a clean face with a moisturiser that’s suitable for your skin type. Apply the moisturizer with clean hands using your fingers. Let the moisturiser soak in for a bit before proceeding.

Step 2: Base

Now we can move on to the base! Choose whatever product and finish you want—tinted moisturiser, BB/CC cream, or foundation. For this tutorial, you will create a natural finish and use a light to medium coverage. Avoid any full coverage options.

Once you know what you’re going to use for your base, dab a bit on the back of your hand and start applying it onto your face. Begin using circular motions with your fingers to get an even and flawless finish. This method will prevent your base from looking strange and will give you an even finish.

Step 3: Concealer

Either choose a concealer that’s a bit lighter than your skin or the same shade as your base to add a bit more coverage. This will also brighten the under and upper eye area where needed. Add concealer around your lid area and tap it in with your finger.
If needed, you can use the concealer to cover any blemishes or discolorations as well and then pat it into the skin with your finger.

Step 4: Set

Depending on your skin type, you might want to take a small fluffy brush and set the concealed areas so that it will stay long-lasting all day.

Step 5: Brow Gel

Applying brow gel to your eyebrows will keep them in place throughout the day and with a tinted product, it will add a bit of colour as well.

Step 6: Eyes

With your eye makeup, you can create a very simple and natural look by choosing one or two shades. This can be normal eyeshadow or cream that dries on its own—your choice.

Personally, I like to use a little powder eyeshadow with a cream shadow where one shade is light brown and the other is lighter and has shimmer. It’s simple, but quick and beautiful.

First, take the lighter cream shade and focus it on the main lid area using your finger to apply and blend. Next, take the darker shade and apply this on the outer corner of your eye. Dip into the shadow or cream shadow once more if you feel that it’s not enough and then blend the shadows together for a seamless look.

Step 7: Mascara

Mascara is a great product as this will open up your eyes a lot and brighten your entire look. Don’t forget your lower lash line as well!

Step 8: Blush

Use a cream blush or cream lipstick to apply with your fingers—both products work fantastic! First, apply the blush on the apples of your cheeks while you’re smiling and blend it towards the hairline and a bit downwards for a nice blend.

Step 9: Set the Base

If needed (and depending on the base and skin type you have), you might want to take a big powder brush to set your makeup for a long-lasting finish. Take a bit of powder onto the brush and press it into the skin on areas that might sweat or produce oil during the day.

Step 10: Lips

For lips, you can go with a tinted lip balm or cream lipstick. Add a bit of the product onto the centre of your lips and then blend it towards the corners with your fingers.
