Enjin Cryptocurrency Wallet - Overview and Features
Introducing The Enjin Wallet
If you're like me, you probably got started in cryptocurrency by creating an account on an exchange like coinbase or opening a MetaMask wallet so that you could easily receive and send cryptocurrency to DApps. There are pros and cons to different types of cryptocurrency wallets - some are more secure, some are easier to use, some are free, and some cost money. The most important thing is finding a wallet that works for YOU. In today's article, I want to give a brief overview of the Enjin wallet by discussing its security, how it works, and some interesting features that it offers.
One of the most important reasons that I chose the Enjin wallet is because it offers true multi-currency support. Metamask is a great wallet, but it currently only supports ERC-20 take tokens which means that I wasn't able to store any Bitcoin in the wallet. Obviously, Bitcoin is the dominant cryptocurrency, and I don't think I could call myself true crypto enthusiastic without owning at least a little bit of the “King of Cryptos.” Unfortunately, there are a lot of Bitcoin wallets that only support Bitcoin. Enjin stands out among its competitors because it offers support for ERC-20 tokens as well as Bitcoin and Litecoin. Taken together, the support for BTC, LTC, and ALL ERC-20 tokens means that the Enjin wallet will be able to support the vast majority of cryptocurrencies that you are likely to encounter. This is a very attractive point of the Enjin wallet because I want a place to easily manage all of my cryptocurrencies without having to download a new application to support every different coin.
The most important concern for any cryptocurrency holder is security, and the Enjin wallet takes security very seriously. Enjin offers NSA level dual encryption of your keystore and has also passed an independent security audit and penetration testing. Both of these are important points because an audit ensures that a program does what it's supposed to do, while the penetration testing means that the program has stood up to deliberate attempts at hacking it. Perhaps even more importantly, the Enjin wallet protects against keylogging. Instead of using your phone's default keyboard, the app has a self-contained, secure keyboard which helps prevent keyloggers from stealing your password when you type it into the phone.
The Enjin wallet is also incredibly simple to use. It can be downloaded from the Google Play store or the App Store. Once you have downloaded the wallet, creating a wallet is a breeze. Simply tap the icon to create a new wallet, and select which coins you want to be supported. Don't worry. You can always add more coins at a later time if you want.
Just to test out the wallet, I wanted to send a little bit of Basic Attention Token from MetaMask. The Enjin wallet allows you to receive funds from either a QR code or a public key. Since MetaMask is on my computer, I couldn't scan the QR code, but I was able to send the BAT to the public address listed on my engine wallet. I can confirm that I was able to receive my funds to the Enjin wallet without any issues.
Interestingly, Enjin is more than just a cryptocurrency wallet. It also offers a DApp browser, and I can put my funds directly into Compound from the Enjin wallet. if you do a lot of cryptocurrency trading, you will also find it incredibly helpful that the Enjin wallet allows you to swap crypto directly within the wallet. The wallet is integrated with changelly, Kyber Swap, Banco and COINSWITCH.
When you use a traditional exchange, you have to send funds from your wallet to the exchange, carry out the exchange, and then conduct a separate transaction to send the funds back to your wallet. Having the ability to directly exchange from the wallet is a nice touch that I am sure will save me a lot of time.
Conclusion
Overall, the Enjin cryptocurrency wallet has a lot to offer. Security, ease-of-use, and a host of time-saving features. Obviously, everyone has a different set of criteria and you should choose the wallet that is best for you. That being said, I think that Enjin is a great choice to consider.
