Greenhouse Pill Bug Catch

This is a follow-up to the video 2-days ago when the natural pill bug traps were set. It shows how the traps are cleaned and how large the catch is soon after putting them out. This can also be done in outdoor gardens, but you need to put something over them to keep the rain out.

Will be adding a wee bit more beer and rewetting the soil around the traps each evening just before the pill bugs emerge for the night. This improves the catch. Didn’t mention it in the video but a little yeast in sugar water also works almost as good as beer, but raises a lot more of a stink.

After the catch slows down, cheap beer will be replaced by a chunk of meat or cheese which doesn’t raise such a stick after a while. The traps will remain until all the planting has been completed next fall and the plants are large enough at the base to resist being cut down by a gang of pill bugs.
