RE: ZNAP; Are the dapps limiting user's creativity by conforming only to some specific Kind of contents?

in #dtube5 years ago (edited)

100% true. I am almost entirely focusing on video content because after 15 months on steem my creative writing and travel writing was still making less than $2 on average.

Some high-ups on steem have talked about entitlement before. A lot of these people produce content that is badly written and pretty much parrots other content on this platform. They make hundreds of dollars for this shit content they put out. They very obviously feel entitled and think that they're entitled due to the steem they hold.

This is the biggest dichotomy of Steem and its biggest challenge in actually getting large amounts of people on the blockchain. True artistry and creativity in writing is so under rewarded on steem that I keep most of my writing to market elsewhere and am making more money by doing so and more importantly gaining more exposure than I do for that content on here.

Having said all that, I'm not moaning and am trying to bring creativity to dtube through poetry readings and a 'soon to be announced' competition.

... you are right in what you say though. Popularity of content type drives people away from thier specialization. I think that we have already essentially seen this consensus destruction of creativity on steem. When I started on steem there was much much more high quality creative writing on here, especially fiction. This was pretty much due to high steem prices and people competing for curie awards... In other words monitary considerations. And why not? People who create high quality will come here to be rewarded for that quality which is as it should be and they'll leave when they're not getting rewarded for their talent and skill. That diversity of creativity and content was an excellent advertisement for Steem for people looking from the outside in. This advertisement has gone now as 70% of content is about blockchain and the vast majority of that is all about steem. And what is left of the creative content is being slowly focused down to fewer subject matters. It is a sad thing in my opinion but what happens when you have so many competing agendas in a shrinking space.

A big part of it comes down to investment though. I had a steem business idea I was thinking of pursuing called 'writcoin'. I even secured the steem account. The project idea was geared towards gaining mainstem publishing houses interest and investment in steem. However, my chronic illness ramped up and I couldn't go ahead with the idea which turned out to be a good thing as it would have failed in this downward market. My point is that the dapps all have one thing in common... nearly all of them actually invest a big chunk of capital into steem meaning vote power going to the type of content they favour.

It's a big dissapointment really I thank diversication is really essential when we see content like food making get all the attention and some particular kind of content didn't it is really not good I can relate with what you went through with your content even me I had a very rough patch I do think that so many other decentralized apps will come in the future that can stop this because I believe as well however I think people are no longer bringing unique content because of the fact that they want to monetize their reward and they join content that are always rewarded I think this really isnt good enough
