Culture Hates You Managing Your Finances Well
Culture hates you using your money effectively and loves you using your money poorly. Consumerism is so deeply rooted in our culture that you can even see this in TV shows from over 20 years ago like Friends. When they discuss what they would do with lottery winnings, they shame Ross for wanting to invest the money because it wasn't a fun way to use the money. This type of mindset and approach to finance is just as relevant today and widely accepted by so many people that it has become the norm to be spending money frivolously.
I also recently had a conversation with someone who claimed that you couldn't make money or start a business unless you had a lot of money. This mindset is so crippling because it's setting restrictions on what is possible based on arbitrary perspectives. That mantra is self-crippling because there are many people who built successful businesses off of little to no money, so why can't you?
The only thing that is holding you back is the way you approach the problem, not the money. You don't lack resources, you lack resourcefulness. What are your thoughts on this?
