A day in the life of a Steemian~ Part 6
To feel or not that is the question or is it? Can you feel too much and still survive? Panic attacks are as real as real can be. Not everyone knows what they really are, even if they have had them. They are tricky litter buggers that climb inside your head. Messing, messing while stirring the pot, until you think you are dead.
They come out of nowhere feeding on fears hidden deep inside waiting to appear. Living alone with no one to call can make the fear grow. It takes leaving pride aside to admit you have a weakness that you can not control.
Those that do live with panic attacks have learned a few tricks to tell when one is coming. To see it for what it is.
Change is hard for young and old alike. We all have more in common then some would like to admit. It would be nice to say this is something you can outgrow. My own eyes today saw two such people fall to the plight of panic attacks full blown. Age not caring one wit.
Through all the time I have been gone from home my friends have helped me feel connected to my real life. I am lucky in that regard and know this very well. What, though, if you find yourself old and alone when the serpent comes to play inside your head?
I saw tonight the power of having friends. A call in need. A call in fear turned into a full house. One where acceptance was the key. Pacing happened to slow the race happening inside the head. Love being poured out from all sides coated the soul in love. Love not stifling, just floating in the air, was all that was needed to slow the panic down.
Safe at last, car inside, lights dimmed. Two bodies, from a day of terror, unwound beside each other. Breathing slowed, while souls wound down to the tick of each others clock.
We can be the strongest soul but there comes a time, in most of our lives, when reaching out helps. It takes courage to ask, but in the end, for some, the benefits they receive outweigh the sacrifice of being human and all that goes with it.
The house is finally quiet while I write my story for today. The song above 'Pain Killer' has taken on new meaning. Once again showing there are reasons for everything. Life is hard and I love being alone in quiet but even the strongest of us need a friend they can call on from time to time.
A friend that doesn't question but surrounds you with love and acceptance.
This is what real life is all about.

Painkiller ~ Judas Priest
Faster than a bullet
Terrifying scream
Enraged and full of anger
He's half man and half machine
Rides the Metal Monster
Breathing smoke and fire
Closing in with vengeance soaring high
He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller
Planets devastated
Mankind's on its knees
A saviour comes from out the skies
In answer to their pleas
Through boiling clouds of thunder
Blasting bolts of steel
Evils going under deadly wheels
He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller
Faster than a laser bullet
Louder than an atom bomb
Chromium plated boiling metal
Brighter than a thousand suns
Flying high on rapture
Stronger free and brave
Nevermore en-captured
They've been brought back from the grave
With mankind resurrected
Forever to survive
Returns from Armageddon to the skies
He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller
Wings of steel Painkiller
Deadly wheels Painkiller
He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller
He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller
Pain! Pain!
Killer! Killer!
Pain! Pain!
Killer! Killer!
Can't stop the Painkiller!
Pain!

Too often society lauds keeping to oneself and braving any storm alone. But I think it takes more courage (and acceptance) to acknowledge our limitations and reach out to those who love us and want us not to feel alone in the chaos.
To know that there are people who will drop everything when called upon to be there for you if you say the word is a truly wonderful blessing. 🤗😇
My grandmother stressed the importance of letting people into my life, in keeping contact with my friends, after my grandfather passed away. She realized that the loneliness was more than she was prepared for and wished that she'd gone out to meet more people and cultivate friendships when she was younger and braver to put herself out there. It took some time but about a year later, she ventured out and was able to meet a wonderful woman in the library that she's come to see as a true friend. Someone who is close by who can drop by the house for coffee and makes her smile. Now, atop her family, she has this great friend to call upon when she has a need for contact.
LOVE YOU!
it's hard to find yourself alone after all that time but knowing you need the courage to go out and meet people is 3/4 the battle.
Your Gma is very smart to instill what she learned the hard way to all who will listen.

@allyfortis, are you serious? Did you watch the video or even read the post? Or did it bring up too much anxiety seeing the 'Painkiller'?
@snook, friends and family are there for a reason. Much love sis.
