Seeing the invisible world through a camera: Exploring the electromagnetic spectrum.
Our eyes and camera sensors work quite differently, due to this we can see into a world that is otherwise invisible to us. I use one of my favorite infographic posters to explain some scenarios that cameras placed in are influenced by Cosmic Rays, Gamma, Xray, Microwave and others that end up showing artifacts.
I add videos between discussing different wavelengths and talk a little bit about what happened and where it would be on the map behind me.
I demonstrate where my full spectrum camera can see light on the map and talk about what else it could see with different hardware inside. Using material allows radiation to pass through otherwise blocked by the glass such as thermal infrared. Though some radiation can pass right through the glass and even keep going through the entire camera and effect its circuitry.
Examples come from footage on the Space station, electron beam sterilizer, under a hospital xray machine, nuclear reactors and nuclear disasters. These videos are examples I found online that shows how radiation interacts with the camera in interesting ways.
This video covers the broad spectrum, I may do a more specific video in the future talking about just the Infrared and Ultraviolet spectrums which I focus on for my photography.
