Baby Sea Turtles are set free/ Babyschildkröten werden freigelassen. Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka
The Turtle Sanctuary in Hikkaduwa is mainly for the eggs of the turtles, so that they can hatch there in peace.
Many locals eat the eggs and for the protection of the turtles people can bring the eggs and and get money for them.
There are also some older turtles, but our highlight was the we could come back at sunset and help to set the baby turtles free.
There were about hundret of them and we set them free and they swim a couple of hours in the open ocean.
Only about 3 of them will grow up!
